Get your homeschool students excited to learn and connect with educational group activities! From hosting a book club to nature-based learning, here are some fun ways to gather your kids for a day of education and socialization, including a leafcutter bee presentation from Kind Bee Farms.

Start a Community Garden Project
If your homeschoolers are learning about pollination, give them an opportunity for a hands-on lesson with a community garden project.
Work with the local municipality to secure a garden plot for your students and teach them about the joys of gardening and the role of pollination.
You can also teach your students about pollinators by adding a leafcutter bee house to the community garden (you can find leaf cutter bees for sale in our Shop).
Start this project in the spring and have your students tend their plants throughout the summer. Once the new school year begins, assign a worksheet about what they learned about gardening, pollination, and the leafcutter bees over the summer.
You can also include questions about leafcutter bees in their worksheet (there are some good ones in this Blog!).
Host an Educational Book Club
Foster a love of reading in your students with a homeschool book club! If your homeschool program doesn’t have an office or building to host your students, arrange a booking with your local public library or community centre.
To make the book club more educational, mix in some titles that cover common school topics. Choose books about nature (we are partial to anything about kind bees) or that teach important life lessons.
Also, let your students choose which books they want to read from time to time. Make sure everyone has the chance to enjoy the club!
Take a Field Trip to the Farmer’s Market
If you want an easy and low-cost event, arrange a day at the farmer’s market! Invite the parents for extra supervision and pair the students into groups of 2-4 so they can visit and get to know each other.
Your students will love walking around and seeing the different displays. Many farmers’ markets have events like live music and workshops that offer a fun and educational day out.
You might even see us there! Our team at Kind Bee Farms recently attended the Regina Farmers’ Market and had the opportunity to visit with patrons and talk about our superpollinators.
If we are attending the same event, make sure to have your students stop and chat with us. We love sharing facts about our kind bees!
Learn About Superpollinators with Kind Bee Farms
If you want your school’s event to be fun and educational, contact our team at Kind Bee Farms for a school presentation. We regularly work with schools throughout Saskatchewan and would be happy to add your homeschooling program to our roster.
Contact us, and we will arrange a date and time to teach your students about our buzzing superpollinators.
To book a presentation, email us at [email protected]. We look forward to working with you and your students!
